A sanitised Space

Effective sanitation using UV-C Light

Never have we had a greater need to keep our world sanitised. As we endeavour to live our lives in the face of a global pandemic there is a need to protect people from the harmful micro-organisms. With the growing requirement for an effective sanitation solution Sanlux was formed.

Sanlux is a company founded and based in Sydney, Australia a. We specialise in UV-C sanitation solutions. We strive to provide cost effective solutions to sanitise surfaces, air and objects whilst maintaining safety.

The transmission of viruses commonly occurs through the air we breathe, as well as the surfaces and objects we touch. A chemical cleaning routine can be laborious and commonly there are contaminants left behind. With Covid 19, flu and the common cold, this could have an impacting effect on our health and wellbeing.

UV-C Ultraviolet Radiation has been commonly, safely and effectively used as disinfection for more than 40 years. UV-C is found within wavelengths of 100 – 280nm range and extremely effective in breaking down DNA and RNA of microorganisms.

Sanlux offers a complete UV-C sanitation service solution where safety is paramount. We complete full site assessments and design, installation and commissioning, operation analysis and maintenance.Surface and air disinfection can be used in areas including retail, offices, hospitality, hair and beauty salons, schools, banking, supermarkets, washrooms and sporting facilities to mention a few.

What is UV Technology

Ultra-Violet (UV) light is invisible to the human eye and is divided into UV-A, UV-B and UV-C.

UV-C is found within 100-280 nm range. Low pressure UV-C lamps have their main emission at 254nm and Far UV-C lamps at 222nm.The germicidal lamps are extremely effective in breaking down the DNA and RNA of micro-organisms.This means that they cannot replicate and cause disease.

The technology has primarily been used in areas where there is a risk of microbiological contamination, and has been used safely and effectively for more than 40 years.

How does UV-C Work?

Micro-organisms such as bacteria, mould, yeast and protozoa can be destroyed or removed by physical, biological and chemical methods. UV-C works using a photolytic effect whereby the radiation inactivates the micro-organism so that it can no longer multiply.

For DNA it does this by causing adjacent thymine bases to form a chemical bond, thus creating a dimmer and if sufficient of these are created, DNA cannot replicate.
